Designer – Meg Sasaki

From an early age, influenced by her creative mother, she developed a strong interest in creating from nothing. Seeking to understand the structure and essence of things, she studied structural mechanics during her academic years. Raised by a father involved in luxury hospitality and a mother who runs an architectural design studio, her awareness of quality was naturally cultivated through everyday life.

Through the influence of her grandmother and mother, kimono was always a familiar presence. In her early teens, she founded a tea ceremony club and introduced the practice to international audiences during a cultural hall event, actively sharing the beauty of Japanese culture.

A formative experience came through a radio program project that led her to Italy for jewelry training, which profoundly shaped her values. Living abroad thereafter, she observed how different cultures deeply respect, integrate, and sustain their own traditions in daily life. In contrast, she became aware that many valuable aspects of Japanese culture are not fully utilized in contemporary society.

Having sensitive skin and struggling with what to wear, she recalled her grandmother’s words, “A woman’s skin should be cared for with silk,” which led her to embrace silk garments.
